On the last Monday which was December 1st, The GCA was invited a famous artist who is a professor for researching Chinese classical garden. Professor Zhao came here and gave us a wonderful lecture on Chinese garden, and this presentation brought a variety of information about what the Chinese garden are, the main types of Chinese garden, and characteristic the Suzhou garden.

The Chinese garden has a long history, and it is a treasure of Chinese ancient construction and Art. When it was created, it had some effects come form the Buddhism, painting, poetry and other esthetics. Moreover, we also call the Chinese garden as poetic garden, because they were created by the combination of landscape with poems. That also is the syncretism of nature with Art. The structure Chinese garden includes natural hill, water, trees, flowers; and factitious architecture, pavilion, terraces, pavement, both them create every Chinese garden which is unique and brilliant.

Altogether, the main types of Chinese garden are the Royal garden, the Private garden, the Temple garden, the Scenic spots garden. The Chinese classical garden was built impeccably with functional, structural and esthetical considerations. Not only it offers a comfortable and gentler environment for men to live, but also it offers a natural and spiritual space for men to think and rest. Going insider and outside through the pavement of Chinese classical garden, people can touch the blossom from branch or enjoy tea, poem, flower arrangement or playing musical instrument in the garden. That is a real home.

Suzhou is China's well-known "city of gardens"; the Suzhou garden is the most famous in Chinese gardens. Especially, Suzhou garden has a variety of exquisite and multifarious buildings. They have a lot of little pavilions and large constructions with the basic beam, and the building combines with trees, flowers, pond, and hill perfectly. Such as the Surging Waves Pavilion, it represents the Song Dynasties. The Suzhou garden has a special aesthetics what is dissymmetry, that means approach the nature better.

Therefore, the Chinese garden is rich in literary and esthetical connotations, it also has philosophies. It lets men connect with nature nearly, it lets us come back to our inner heart, and come back to ancient idealism.
